After the national officers are elected, they begin two months of training. After they have completed their training, they start their year of traveling over 100,000 miles visiting local chapters nationwide. They will spend up to four weeks at different state conventions presenting workshops, speeches and meeting FFA members.
The national officers will also spend three weeks traveling to different businesses. While there, they tour the business facilities and talk with owners, managers and workers to understand what their company does and to promote agriculture and the FFA. Not only do the national officers travel the nation, they also travel to Japan for 11 days to tour Japan's agricultural industry, schools and to learn about cultural similarities and differences.
Rist will start interviews at the 81st National FFA Convention, Oct. 22-25 in Indianapolis, Ind. She will be vying for one of six offices on the national officer team.
