Equipment dealers award scholarships

The Minnesota-South Dakota Equipment Dealers Association has announced that four students headed for careers as technicians in the farm equipment industry have been named recipients of $1,000 scholarships from the association's Ken Austin Memorial Education Fund for the 2008-2009 school year.

The students were selected for the awards because they demonstrated the skills, aptitude and character necessary to be a successful and valuable employee in a farm equipment dealership and their intent on pursuing a career with a farm equipment dealership located in Minnesota or South Dakota.

Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minn., awarded the scholarship to Jonathan Doucette of Carlos, Minn. Douchette was referred by Alex Power Equipment in Alexandria.

Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Moorhead, Minn., awarded the scholarship to Dan Thompson of Ortonville, Minn. Thompson was referred by Titan Machinery Inc. in Graceville, Minn.

North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., awarded scholarships to Brian Reppe of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ryan Mielitz of Big Stone City, S.D. Reppe was referred by Eugene Beckman & Sons, Inc. in Brookings, S.D. Mielitz was referred by Grant County Implement in Milbank, S.D.
