Annual Dairy Night with the Canaries is set for June 28

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 3:48 PM CDT

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Baseball fans will enjoy a great game and tasty dairy treats June 28, when the Sioux Fall Canaries take on the St. Paul Saints.

The South Dakota Division of Midwest Dairy Association hosts the annual event to promote the dairy industry to baseball enthusiasts of all ages.

"We are trying to give those baseball moms information about nutrition and 3-A-Day of Dairy," said Dawn Conrad, Midwest Dairy Association's nutrition communications manager. "This event also gives kids the opportunity to get involved and helps them to realize how important it is to eat healthy and consume dairy products every day."

Game time is 4:05 p.m., but fans will want to arrive early to visit an information booth and get free 3-A-Day kick balls for their children. Recipes, nutrition information and dairy product samples will be given away at the booth, and moms can also sign up to receive regular updates about dairy products and nutrition. South Dakota Dairy Princess Stephanie Nussbaum will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Announcements during the game will feature facts and information about the dairy industry and South Dakota dairy farms. Promotional banners and signs will help salute the hard work, dedication and pride South Dakota dairy farmers have for producing wholesome, high quality dairy products.
