RAPID CITY, S.D. - The 2008 Black Hills Stock Show Gelbvieh Show and Sale was Jan. 31 in Rapid City, S.D. The auctioneer was Lynn Weishaar.

Averages

7 Bulls $2,586

7 Heifers $2,485

High selling bulls

The grand champion bull was lot 23, BABR 643S, a 3-25-06 son of EXAR Pay Stub 405S, consigned by Brittney Beastrom, Pierre, S.D. He sold to Pat Trask, Wasta, S.D., for $3,900.

  

Lot 17, Elk War Horse 124T, a 3-7-07 son of Elk Ck Crazy Horse 138P, was consigned by Elk Creek Gelbvieh, Piedmont, S.D. He sold to David Dell, Columbia, S.D., for $3,400.

Lot 15, ELK CK Medicine Man 926T, a 3-13-07 son of ELK CK Crazy Horse 138P, was consigned by Elk Creek Gelbvieh. He sold to Grant Breitkrewtz, Redwood Falls, Minn., for $3,200.

The reserve champion bull was JACK Touchdown 74T, consigned by Leonhardt Cattle Co., Lake Preston, S.D. He sold to Jerry Johnson, Interior, S.D., for $2,800.

High selling females

Lot 4, Elk CK Bunny 717T, a 3-11-07 daughter of Gru Elk Dee Jake 744J, was consigned by Elk Creek Gelbvieh. She sold to Diamond Six Ranch, Lewiston, Mont., for $2,900.

The grand champion heifer, PLA Miss Pablo 730T, was consigned by Plateau-Cruise Gelbvieh, Peetz, Colo. She sold to Eagle Pass Ranch, Highmore, S.D., for $2,600.

The reserve champion heifer, CGCC Ms BK K503 Balanced 631S, was consigned by Cerroll Gelbvieh, Sisseton, S.D. She sold to Kenneth Thorstenson, Selby, S.D., for $2,600.
