LINCOLN, Neb. - A Dec. 6 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension workshop on Alternative Energy for Home, Farm and Acreages, will answer questions and discuss considerations about using or implementing alternative energy sources.

The workshop, from 1-5 p.m. at the Christenson Education Building at the Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead, Neb., is geared toward acreage owners, homeowners and farmers.

“We are trying to focus on alternative energy options for people that are interested in renewable energy options,” said John Hay, UNL Extension educator and one of the workshop organizers.

The workshop will discuss how the alternative energy options work and the cost effectiveness of each option.

Topics and speakers include: Energy Conservation in Homes and Buildings, Shirley Niemeyer, UNL housing and environmental specialist; Small Wind, Solar and Photovoltaics for Home or Business, John Dixon, Dixon Power Systems; Net Metering for Renewable Electricity, Rich Andrysik, Lincoln Electric Systems; Ethanol and Biodiesel Blends, Loren Isom, UNL Industrial Ag Products Center; and Modern Methane Production, Crystal Powers, UNL.
