CHILI-OAT SPOONBURGERS
1 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1-1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 tablespoon shortening
Two 8-oz. cans tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup chili sauce or catsup (I use catsup)
1/2 cup rolled oats, uncooked
2 teaspoons chili powder
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 lb. cheese, cut in 1/4 cubes (I use Velveeta)
6 hamburger buns
Cook onions, celery and beef in shortening until done. Add tomato sauce, water, chili sauce, oats, chili powder, salt and Worcestershire sauce. Heat thoroughly.
Just before serving on buns, stir in cheese cubes. Serve with relishes, potato chips and soft drinks.
