BROOKINGS, S.D. - South Dakota State University and the South Dakota Animal Industry Board have teamed up to offer animal identification workshops to livestock producers across the state.

There is no cost to attend.

The Nov. 4 workshop starts at 1 p.m. at the Pat and MaryLou Guptill ranch. Turn north on Big Foote Road, 3 miles east of Quinn, S.D., or 7 miles west of Cottonwood, S.D., travel 1 mile north and turn right.

The Nov. 11 workshop starts at 10 a.m. at Gelderman Farms, 46475 Grand Meadow Street, Hartford, S.D.

The Nov. 16 workshop is 1 p.m. at Bob Jackson’s ranch near Firesteel, S.D. At the junction of Highways 63 and 20, go north 2.5 miles on the gravel road; the ranch is on the left side of road.

Each workshop lasts approximately three hours and starts with a hands-on demonstration of ID tagging, followed by presentations.

For more information, contact a local county Extension office or call SDSU Extension area beef specialist Julie Walker at (605) 223-7730.
