Summer Spotlight is July 29-31 in Huron
HURON, S.D. - The 2005 South Dakota Summer Spotlight is set for July 29-31 at the State Fairgrounds in Huron.
The second annual event showcases South Dakota's youth exhibiting livestock, is sponsored by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and open to all 4-H and FFA exhibitors.
The South Dakota State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest kicks off the event July 29 at 9 a.m.
July 29 is also the start of South Dakota All Breeds Field Day, featuring 11 cattle shows. The Hereford, Charolais, Gelbvieh and Red Angus shows begin at 2 p.m.
The Angus, Simmental, Chiangus, Shorthorn, Limousin, Maine-Anjou and Crossbred shows begin July 30 at 8 a.m.
Also on July 30, more than 300 market lambs will participate in the market lamb show at 8 a.m.
The prospect and market hog show is July 31 at 7:30 a.m. in the Swine Complex.
The Summer Spotlight gives 4-H and FFA youth an opportunity to exhibit their livestock before upcoming achievement days in counties throughout South Dakota.
